The analytics devised by Richard M. Coleman NHL, introduced in 2005, involve intricate calculations. These calculations encompass advanced metric counters such as Corsi, which measures the number of goal attempts by players rather than simply tallying goals when the puck enters the net. Another critical metric is “expected goals,” which assesses the threat level posed by a team’s shots. For instance, a team that makes 12 relatively easy shots toward the net might score less than a team that takes five high-risk shots. This metric quantifies unblocked shots aimed at the net.
